Kids Paddling Club - New! -

Kids Paddling Club is an excellent opportunity for all our Kids Camp graduates to get out on the water at a new paddling destination. Each week we will have a new activity for the Club members that will test their paddling knowledge while teaching them about the unique ecosystem that is the Elkhorn Slough Natural Reserve. Some of the Club topics will be:

Birding Bingo Bonanza

This activity will teach kids about the great diversity of bird life that calls the Elkhorn Slough home. We will focus on the differences and similarities between the resident and migratory bird populations all in a fun "Bingo" game format.

Hidden Treasures of the Elkhorn Slough

This activity will introduce the participants to parts of the Slough that they may not normally encounter. Kids will take mud samples from different parts of the Slough to investigate the creatures that live within the mud flats.

Reading & Riding Tides

In this activity the kids will learn about how the tides can affect both the slough and kayakers. The shape of Elkhorn Slough allows for a significant tidal flow during certain times of the year. We will learn how the animals adapt to tidal changes, and how kayakers can cope with and harness the tidal swings.

Group Youth Tours

(for schools and non-profit organizations)

Kids and Kayaks Our youth group tours are a great way to combine fun and learning. We emphasize the marine sciences, while introducing kids to sea kayaks. Whether learning about kelp beds, tidal wetlands, marine mammals or kayaking, this tour can be tailored to your group's ages, ability and interest. Younger kids will have fun with lots of hands-on activities, and older kids may enjoy practicing rescues and boat control skills. We will also paddle out to look for sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, shore birds and marine invertebrates. Teachers, chaperones and parents are welcome to join.

Our high ratio of staff to customers (1 staff to 8 participants, or 1 to 5 boats) allows for personal attention and professional service. Our lead guides are fully trained in leadership skills, rescue skills, natural history, CPR and First Aid certification, carry cell phones, first aid kits, tow ropes and other safety equipment. Our Certificate of Insurance (COI) is available upon request.

Our fleet of open deck doubles and triples are the highest quality and are suited to the kids needs, ensuring the best experience possible. We also provide: a wetsuit, paddling jacket, and life jacket. All you need to bring are bathing suits, extra top (synthetic, not cotton), shoes that can get wet, towels and dry clothes for afterwards.
