Monterey Bay Kayaks

You may have seen strange looking surfers on the bay paddling themselves with what looks like a canoe paddle. This sport combines surfing and paddling and has created a lot of excitement. Stand-Up Paddling has made its way to Monterey Bay Kayaks and we would like to introduce you to the fun and new way of paddling. It's a great way to exercise and increase your core strength. We will have up to 4 Laird and Takayama SUPs by SurfTech for demo or rental for entry- to intermediate-level paddlers. SUPs are available only at our Monterey location.

Rate: $20 for 2 hours

We are now offering our Kirby Park shuttles on weekends year round (except for Ride the Tide days).

Pick up times at Kirby Park will vary as the season changes. Call us for specific times closer to your trip date.

All rates are per person:

• Package #1 — $100.00 for 2 months of unlimited rentals or demos at both locations. Can be applied to any new boat purchase within the 60 days.
• Package #2 — $250.00 2 months of unlimited rentals, tours, classes at both locations. Programs includes rentals, demos, Intro to Sea Kayaking, Re-entry Techniques, Surf 1, Pool rolling sessions, Kayak Fishing, any 2- or 3-hour Monterey Bay and Elkhorn Slough Guided Natural History Tours. Can be applied to any new TOURING kayak purchase within 60 days.

Both of our on-the-water paddling locations offers kayak storage for your convenience. Monthly rate are $30 for outside storage and $50 for inside storage per month. Have access to your kayak during operating hours.

Nearly 60 anglers participated in the MBK Fishing Derby contest this year, which raised funds for the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project.

Learn your eskimo roll and/or practice your re-entry skills in an 84 degree indoor pool!

Using both river and sea kayaks, our instructors will guide you through the skills needed to master the ultimate self rescue. The Salinas municipal pool is a nice facility with a huge pool to accomodate up to 12 people. Hoses are provided to clean out your boats before they can be put in the pool.
