SEA KAYAK CLASSES MONTEREY Our classes are only taught by instructors who have passed the American Canoe Association accredited coastal sea kayaking classes. Become a better paddler! Learn how to paddle efficiently, increase your safety and have a fun day whilethe sea otters and seals look on.
Intro to Sea Kayaks @ Monterey - 3 hours
Increase your confidence on the water with kayaking basic skills. Learn how to control your kayak, prevent a capsize with bracing strokes, do a wet exit and practice the assisted rescue. Your choice of open deck or closed deck kayaks. • Kids should be 13 years minimum (or take private class) * Classes require a little more preparation, so arrive 30 minutes before start time.
After completing your introductory class the best way to acquire advanced level skills is personalized instruction. Select from these popular topics then submit an inquiry for the day you are interest in. Each class is 2 hours 1. Rescues and Re-entries- Get yourself or others back into a kayak after a capsize 2. Surf Zone- Launch and land through breaking waves. Essential for coastal trips. 3. Kayak Rolling- the ultimate self rescue. 4. Advanced Stand up Paddleboard technique refinement 5. Basic skill review- (Boat control, bracing, wet exits, etc.)
Rates for Classes in Monterey - 2 hours, Price includes kayak and all gear (or bring your own) 1-2 people $200 total 3-6 people $450 total
